Drinking good beer in Lisbon
In my recent visit to Lisbon, we discovered between alleyways, parks, and historic monuments, great places to drink good beers, but also to eat excellent food. Craft beer movement has started recently in Portugal, but nowadays it’s being consolidated in the main cities like Lisbon or Porto. A proof of that is the Artbeer Fest in Caminha. Here we have some of my recommendations.
After the visit of Castelo de Sao Jorge, it’s a good idea to go down near Alfama to get some fresh beer. LisBeer is a little bit hide and looks like a cave. It has eight taps, mainly from Portuguese micros and a good selection of bottles. Prices are nice and the staff is friendly.
Where: Beco do Arco Escuro 1, 1100-016 Lisboa
Still doing some tourism, its time to stop near Elevador de Santa Justa. This is a small place in a nice location, most of the beers are from the brewery. They have 12 taps, mainly from the brewery but also a huge selection of beers in bottle. You have the possibility to do flights, 5 beers for 10€. Duque is interesting, as also, they organize events related to art, beer, etc.
Where: Calçada do Duque 51, 1200-156 Lisboa, Portugal
This is probably, so far, one of my favourites bar in Lisbon. It’s not just the bar, it’s also related to the location. Located in a small and relaxing square, we found this beer temple for all the beer lovers. They have 12 taps and one hand pump. Also, the beer selection on bottles is great: mainly from Portugal and some usual European breweries. Also, you must try the local food that they prepare in the same bar: small tapas and good snacks of the Portuguese cuisine.
Where: Praça das Flores 62, 1200-192 Lisboa, Portugal
I was walking to a brewery and I find another one!. Great place and atmosphere, and good beers on tap and prices. All beers are from the brewery. Worth a visit!
Where: Rua do Açúcar 83 Lisboa, Portugal 1950-006
Dois Corvos Cerverjeria
A must in Lisbon. Dois Corvos is also probably, the most international beer from Portugal collaborating with other breweries like Magic Rock, Basqueland, etc. The tap room is well decorated and the atmosphere inside is great. They do flights, growlers and they have beers to take away. Also, we recommend the brewery tour.
Where: R. Cap. Leitão 94, Lisboa, Portugal
I am probably missing more places, so I guess that I am going to come back soon!
Where to Stay: Hotel da Baixa
Where to eat: Rio Coura (), Excellent local food and good prices.
