Drinking good beer in Barcelona
If you were in Barcelona 10 years ago probably just one or two places could have craft beers. Now the situation has changed and you can find decent craft beer in the main neighbourhoods. The list below are based in my personal recommendations, but you can find more places in My Craft Beer Map
We want to start in the heart of Barcelona. The Eixample, AKA Beereixample, where the craft beer scene starts raising and now you can find different options; bottle shops, brewpubs, restaurants, etc.
We start our route at NaparBCN (Carrer de la Diputació, 223), a new concept mixed a Michelin star cuisine with the best beers possible. The decoration is gorgeous and they have terrace if you want to enjoy the Spanish sunshine. Fresh beers brewed at the local and other taps with excellent quality. Also, the bottle menu is awesome. Good lambics, sours, American beers and more. If you have never tried food cooked by a Michelin star, they have a “lunch day menu” with a reasonable price.
Five minutes walking we have BierCab (Carrer Muntaner, 55), probably, one of the best bars in Spain and Europe. 30 taps with the best international beer paired with the best food. If you are lucky, sometimes is easy to find beers on tap like Cantillon, Magic Rock, The Kernel, Stigberge, Great Divide, Other Half. Also check the bottle list. A huge selection of lambics and excellent American beers. Try also the tapas. Their “bravas” are one of the most famous bravas in Barcelona. Dynamic kitchen with excellent beers on tap.
Fancy going out at night with good beers? 3 minutes walking from BierCab we have the brewpub Garage Beer Co (Carrer del Consell de Cent, 261). Nice hoppy beers with good music. Excellent for a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. Great staff and good vibes.
If you want some souvenirs, don’t forget to visit Rosses i Torrades (Carrer del Consell de Cent, 192). Good bottle shop with 3 taps. Great range from local beers to beers from Europe and the rest of the world. Recently, they have added a new fridge to keep the beers with the better conditions possible.
Time to move to another area after Rosses i Torrades, we can walk a bit to get to Abirradero (Carrer de Vila i Vilà, 77). 40 taps with beers from Italy, France, Spain, etc. Most beers are brewed in their brewery. Good option to have multiple choices for different kind of styles where they have three different lines of temperature depending on the style that you want to try. Food is worthy to try.
Five minutes from Abirradero we have BrewPub Le Sec! (Carrer de Margarit, 52) .They have 8 taps in total. Few taps for their own beer and also other breweries from Spain or Europe. It’s a small and cozy place with good prices and food. You must to taste the “Burrito”. Also the serve growlers and probably the cheapest flights in Barcelona!
Keep moving , keep moving! It’s time now to go to one of the most touristic places in Barcelona; The Barceloneta but don’t worry, even to be a a touristic place, you have a few options for craft beer. The Black Lab (Plaça Pau Vila 1-5) is a great brewpub with a simply and delicious kitchen and different kind of beers for all the people. They usually do tours on Sundays and a nice terrace to enjoy the sun. Located in an historical building is a place that you don’t want to miss it in your route. Also in La Barceloneta, there is an old cellar decorated with a new twist. Craft beer, vermut, wines, this is Bodega Fermín (Carrer de Sant Carles, 18), one of my favourite and first places that I usually recommend when tourists ask me about places in Barcelona. They have different “tapas” and small terrace.
Time to move to one great bar with nice tradition in Poble Nou, La cervecita nuestra de cada día (Carrer de Llull, 184). Also, their manager organices La Fira del Poblenou in July, a great beer festival in front of the beach. They have 10 taps and a huge selection on bottles, some of them, in a fridge. They have some snacks. Hoppiness (Carrer Ramon Turró 180) is a new place with 12 craft beers on tap, mostly local but also from Europe. The food is awesome and the staff is friendly. They have a small terrace and the prices are nice. We recommend have some burgers and bravas!
We are finishing out beer route in Gràcia. La Rovira (Carrer Rabassa, 23) with 18 taps and a selection of more than 100 bottles and nice food. From sandwiches, burgers, tapas. Well decorated with vintage stools. Good spot in Gràcia with low prices. La Beata (Carrer de Jesús, 16) is good one to have a few pints at night. 9 taps with good bottle menu. Also, they usually put futbol on the TV.
